Jonathan had his graduation ceremony from pre-school in May 2010. I showed up and all the kids were sitting in chairs at the front of the classroom with a whole lot of parents standing in the back. Jonathan was so excited to see me he would stand up and wave over and over again.
The program began with the kids saluting the flag and reciting the Pledge of Alliegence (think Kindergarten Cop).
Then, the kids all sang a song: Red, White and Blue,
Red, White and Blue,
Our Flag, Our Flag
We Love You.
Rojo, Blanco, Azul,
Rojo, Blanco, Azul,
Mi Bandera, Mi Bandera
Yo se amo.
Finally, the teacher, Miss Sandy, had each kid come up and tell the parents what they wanted to be when they grew up. There were the typical: princess, cowboy, football player, doctor, etc.
Not Jonathan. My son proudly announced to the room that when he grew up he wanted to be a ..........................FLOWER!
What?!? A Flower?
The room broke out in laugher (it was funny). But really? A flower?
The only reason I think he said this was because the day before I had bought some hydrangeas and geraniums to plant in the backyard. Jonathan helped me dig the holes and put the plants in and covered up. He loved helping me plant the flowers. So I think that Jonathan probably meant that he wanted to do something with planting flowers. Who knows.
