Marathon Update....
I did it!!
The Layton Marathon was on October 9, 2010 in Layton, Utah.
On Thursday 10/07/2010, me and the family drove up to Salt Lake City. We stayed at Uncle A's house for the weekend.
Friday we went to go and see S's Grandma and Grandpa Deason. They both looked great. Then we went to dinner with Uncle A and his family at California Pizza Kitchen. YUM.
After dinner S drove me up to Layton to go and pick up my packet which included my shirt and number (786). Then, we drove to H's brother's house where I stayed the night. I did not sleep well that night. I probably slept from 10:00 p.m. till 2:30 a.m. Our alarms were all set for 4:00 a.m. At 4:00 a.m. H, JJ (H's brother), and myself all dressed and prepped for the run ahead.
E (H's husband) drove us to the Ellison Park at 5:00 a.m. where there was a line of school buses waiting to be filled by runners. H, JJ, and myself loaded up onto the front bus. At 5:15 a.m. we were driving out to Antelope Island.
Out on Antelope Island the bus dropped off all the runners at the start. There runners waited in lines in front of a bunch of port-o-potties (conveniently called 1-800-toilets). After potty break, all runners started to gather at the starting line. The race started.
I ran alone and enjoyed the scenery when the sun finally came up on the horizon. I had a great run and enjoyed myself. My official finishing time was 5:47.
The finish was amazing and emotional. There I could see S, J (my son), and my MIL. J ran the last 20 feet with me across the finish line. We both loved that.
I was able to finish before the 6:00 hour cutoff and earned a medal.
H's family gave me a bouquet of beautiful flowers. I loved getting those flowers. So nice.
Our families were there to share in our joy in acheivement.
After all of the training, blisters, pain, tears, etc, I am hooked.
I want to run another marathon.

Jogathon Follies
One of the many joys of J going to school and being a Kindergartner is the great responsibility of participating in fundraising.
One of these fundraising events happens to be the Jogathon. This is where kids can ask people for money to sponser them in a running event. You can donate a flat rate or donate a certain amount of money per lap run.
S and myself only asked family members to donate flat fees. J raised $75.00. Not bad for one
nights worth of phone calling.
S went to the Jogathon to watch the Kindergarten running madness. J ran 9 laps, and from what I am told, one lap in the wrong direction
Way to go J!!! Good Running.
