A Haircut and 3 Stitches - 2 bits

On Monday night we packed up and headed over to the Montgomery's house. Steve was teaching Wendy how to tie-dye shirts for a young woman's activity. While there I asked Wendy if she would fix Jonathan's unruly hair. She agreed. An inpromtu haircut. We sat Jonathan on the counter and Wendy began to work her hair magic. At the final stages with the clippers hovering around the ear area Jonathan jerked his head. The clippers caught the back of his ear. Boy did he cry. We put towels over the gash were applying pressure on the wound but the bleeding just wouldn't stop. Wendy thought that the cut would need stitches. So at 8:30 at night Steve and I are heading to the Pedi-Center. A little after 9:00 we got called back. The nurse took the band-aid that we had stuck to the back of Jonathan's ear to reveal that the bleeding had slowed. Upon inspection and cleaning the nurse agreed with what Wendy thought...stitches.

We got transferred to another room and Jonathan was put on a "papoose board", a board with velcro that holds the arms and legs down (aka small child torture devise). We waited for the doctor to come in and give the final verdict.

The doctor arrived and checked the wound and confirmed stitches were needed. One shot of Lidocaine, many tears, and three stitches later the wound was closed.

We were finally able to leave a little after 10:00 p.m. In the car on the way home Jonathan said that he wanted McDonalds. We were happy to give the poor kid ANYTHING he wanted.
